Ayesha Karim was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in the suburbs of Trenton, New Jersey in a town called Ewing. She attended Ewing High School and graduated in June of 1998.

Ayesha was on Home Instruction most of high school. She attended Mercer County Community College after high school and got her Associate’s degree before transferring to New Jersey City University in the fall of 2007. She graduated from NJCU in August of 2015, her degree was conferred.

Ayesha started writing poems when she was a little girl in the 4th grade. She majored in Creative Writing in college and took Lit and Writing Workshop classes. She always wanted a chapbook since 2009 when she attended a Poetry Workshop with Natalie Handal. Ayesha loves the works of poets Emily Dickinson, Lucille Clifton, and Natasha Trethewey.
