Amanda Lafaye Wilson was born in Boynton Beach, Florida and raised in Pompano Beach, Florida. In 2008 she graduated from Broward College with an AA degree in Mass Communication. She later transferred to Florida Atlantic University and graduated in 2011 with a BA in Communication and a Minor Certificate in Women Studies. Amanda currently attends the University of Central Florida in Daytona Beach where she is studying Criminal Justice. She is the first in her immediate family to graduate from an institution of higher learning.

Influenced by writers such as Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Will “Da Real One” Bell, Asia, Nikki Giovanni, and Alice Walker, Amanda has chosen to begin having her work published though she has been writing since she was five years old. When I asked about her chapbook she stated that “I wanted to put out poems that I had written into a book format to keep for a lifetime and share with anyone who wishes to gain insight into who I am as a person and my experiences”.

Currently, Amanda is an aspiring empowerment specialist and mentor. She is an IBO (independent business owner) of Off Price Apparel, and she has numerous empowerment videos on Facebook and YouTube. She is passionate about elevating disadvantaged youth.
